PLA-Starch Microparticles Containing Clays Focusing Controlled Release of Rifampicin

Polymer nanocomposites have been successfully used as excipients in pharmaceutical technology because of the convenient features that make them suitable for many applications, especially controlled drug delivery therapies. The objective this work was to prepare and characterize PLA starch microparticles containing Viscogel B8 organophilic clay a matrix release rifampicin, one most spread drugs tuberculosis treatment. systems obtained by spray drying technique were characterized DRX, FTIR, SEM low-field NMR. In addition, dissolution tests performed on simulated gastric fluid. micrographs indicate presence caused small change shape size particles. drug, particles spherical presented wider distribution. XRD assays didn’t show crystalline peaks rifampicin microparticles, which suggests exists an amorphous solid solution inside starch-PLA mathematical model Baker-Lonsdale chosen treatment data, describing from diffusion process. results suggest proposed system may be orally administered drugs, such rifampicin.
